New California Auto Insurance Will Benefit More Drivers

Press Release Body = At the onset of this calendar year a new law took place in California enabling low income drivers in selected regions to opt for a liability auto insurance at a cost of under $400 per annum.
Originally the plan has included residents of the San Francisco and Los Angeles counties. Now though there has been passed the Senate Bill 20, which will allow 6 more California counties to join. The new inclusion\'s start date is April 1 2006 and will apply to the counties of Alameda, Fresno, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. If all goes well it might expand to include the rest of California before long but for now the plans in the working for next inclusion are for the counties of Contra Costa, Imperial, Kern, Sacramento, Santa Clara, San Jaquin, San Mateo and Stanislaus.
In the words of Senator Martha Escutia \"My goal in creating the Low Cost Auto Insurance Program six years ago was to provide an affordable alternative for consumers who are required to have, but simply cannot afford a conventional policy. The expansion of the program to additional California counties is a blessing for many working families who are searching for affordable auto insurance.\" The qualifications for registering with this plan include the driver having to be over 19 year old and have income within 250 percent of the statutory, Federal poverty level (around $24,000 for singles, $33,000 for couples and $50,000 for families of four). There are also other signup requirements including holding the driver\'s licence for three or more consecutive years and not being involved in more then one at-fault vehicle accident involving bodily injury or death within three years or more then one property-damage wreck or more then one moving violation also within three years of the date of application.
